pricing
Websites and expectations vary wildly so it's hard to indicate the cost of designing your site until I know what you’re hoping for. My fees are very reasonable and I’d be happy to give you a quote once we’ve spoken, but until then let's start with some fixed prices:
Domain names
You need a name, domains cost $20au/year for .coms and most top level domains, or $40au/2years for .com.au domains.
Other country level domain prices on request.
Site hosting
You need to host your site somewhere, I charge $75au/year for a normal amount of space and bandwidth (large or very popular sites may cost more).
Web design
Starts at $400au for a brochure site including 1 years single domain registration and 1 years hosting — a basic site with simple design and your content and perhaps some artwork ready to go.
The more features you want, like blogs, shopping carts, galleries, videos, flash animation, the dearer it gets.
Again, it's hard for me to quote without knowing what you want.
Site maintenance
Once your site is published it should continue functioning indefinitely.
If something changes on the server or in future browsers that somehow breaks your site I'll do my best to fix it for free. (I try to always use standards compliant code which is the best way to future proof your site.)
Site updates
I can do any future content updates to your site for $40au/hour, minimum charge $20.
I'm happy to update your existing site too if my rates are cheaper than your current designer's.
Email only
The cost of your domain name (as above) plus $4au/month.
Writing
$40au/hour to rewrite material for the web.
Payment
I accept paypal credit, net transfer, cheque and cash.
A deposit of the greater of $200 or 1/4 of your quote is required before I start.
